Hepatitis C jewelry
One of this year's Nobel jewelry is inspired by the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. The Nobel Prize was awarded Harvey J. Alter, Charles M. Rice och Michael Houghton for the discovery of the Hepatitis C virus.
The Hepatitis C is a small enveloped RNA virus. The virus particle consists of a lipid membrane envelope. Within the envelope an icosahedral core. My interpretation is a virus jewelry where parts of the membrane is peeled off so that the protein capsid is visible.

Channelrhodopsins, ChRs, are membrane proteins that function as light-gated ion channels. These proteins are of interest for neuroscience applications. The jewelry shows the three-dimensional structure of ChR.

The molecule in November is Protein A.

Protein A is a protein found in the cell wall of the bacteria Staphylicoccus areus. The protein is composed of five homologous domains that fold into a three-helix bundle. Each domain is able to bind immunoglobulins. The jewelry shows the three-dimensional structure of one domain of Protein A.
