Hepatitis C
Silver necklace inspired by the Nobel Prize 2020 in Physiology or Medicin. It shows Hepatitis C virus; a part of the lipid envelope around the icosahedral protein shell in thin silver plate.
The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2020 was awarded to Harvey J. Alter, Charles M. Rice och Michael Houghton for the discovery of Hepatitis C virus. The Hepatitis C virus is a small enveloped RNA virus. The virus particle consists of a lipid membrane envelope. Within the envelope is an icosahedral core and inside the core is the single-stranded RNA molecule.

Caffeine is a stimulant and is found naturally in coffee and tea. Caffeine may also be added to change the flavor and taste.

MS2 is a bacterial virus. This jewelry shows one of 180 identical coat proteins forming the viral shell that protects the nucleic acid. This was my first crystal structure and the first three-dimensional structure of a bacterial virus coat protein.

Protein A is a protein found in the cell wall of the bacteria Staphylicoccus areus. The protein is composed of five homologous domains that fold into a three-helix bundle. Each domain is able to bind immunoglobulins.
