The silver necklace shows the three dimensional structure of the extracellular domain of the T cell protein CTLA-4. Jewelry inspired by the Nobel Prize 2018 in Medicin. The Nobel Prize was awarded to James P. Allison and Tasuku Honjo for their discovery of cancer therapy by inhibition of negative immune regulation.

The darkest period affects most of us on northern latitudes. It can be difficult to get enough sunlight. The light is very important, it stimulates the production of the hormone serotonin. Serotonin is a 'feel good hormone'. If we don't get enough sunlight, the production of serotonin decreases and instead the release of melatonin increases, the 'sleep hormone'. The light ensures that our biological processes in the body work. We need sunlight and we need serotonin to feel good.

Aquaporins are water-channel proteins that move water molcules through the cell membrane. The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2003 was awarded to Peter Agre for the discovery of water channels. The jewelry shows the three-dimensional structure of AqpM.
