Jewelry for May 2018

The molecule in May is keratin. Keratin is found mainly in hair and skin and consists of two alpha helixes that twist on each other and form a superhelix.

Jewelry for April 2018

The molecule in April is lycopene. It's a bright red pigment found in tomatoes and other red fruits and vegetables, although not in strawberries. Lycopene is a linear molecule - I think it fits perfectly as a bracelet.

BH collision.

The 2017 Nobel Prize winner in Physics was Rainer Weiss, Barry C. Barish and Kip S. Thorne for the observation of gravitational waves and the contributions to the detector that enabled detection. I designed a silver necklace showing collision between two black holes (oxidized silver) with gravitational waves.

DNA - The molecule of life with gold mutation.

The 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Aziz Sancar, Paul Modrich and Tomas Lindahl for having mapped how cells repair damaged DNA. I made a special piece of jewelry for the chemistry price. A damage, a point mutation in the DNA is shown as a gold bullet.(18K).

DNA and proteins as silver jewelry

The DNA double helix is right-handed and contains a minor and a major groove.
Potassium channel is a kind of port in the cell membrane that can pass through potassium ions.
The major birch pollen allergen.
Calcitonin is peptide hormone. It acts to reduce calcium in blood.

Blod-sugar regulating hormons

Glucagon is a blood sugar-regulating hormone.
Insulin is a hormone which lowers blood sugar levels..

Insulin and glucagon work together to balance the blood-sugar levels in your body.

SciFest in Uppsala, 8-10 March 2018

Exhibition at the science festival, SciFest, on Fyrishov with my silver protein structures. In addition, it was possible to make your own protein jewelry in aluminum wire - a glucagon jewelry. After three days, there were more than 500 running around with a glucagon necklace (in aluminum).

Jewelry for March 2018

The protein molecule in March is AQP1 water channel. Water channels facilitate the rapid transport of water across cell membranes.
