MS2 in silver 925 & enameled

The jewelry shows the three dimensional structure of MS2 coat protein in 1.2 mm silver wire. The protein wire is colored in the colors of the rainbow, from blue (first amino acid) to red (last amino acid).

MS2 is a bacterial virus. This jewelry shows one of 180 identical coat proteins forming the viral shell that protects the nucleic acid. This was my first crystal structure and the first three-dimensional structure of a bacterial virus coat protein.
