This year’s silver jewelry inspired by the Nobel Prize in Medicine/Physiology and Chemistry have been delivered to the Nobel Museum at Stortorget in Stockholm.

The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2021 was awarded to David Julius and Ardem Patapoutian for their discoveries of receptors for temperature and touch.
David Julius identified TRPV1, a receptor that registers heat in the nerve fibers of the skin. He utilized capsaicin, a pungent compound from chili peppers that induces a burning sensation, to identify the receptor that responds to heat.
This year’s Nobel Prize jewelry in Physiology/Medicine is therefore the capsaicin molecule and a small red-enameled silver chili. The capsaicin molecule in silver wire with the three oxygen atoms as silver balls.
The Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2021 was awarded to Benjamin List and David W.C MacMillan for the development of asymmetric organocatalysis.
Benjamin List showed that L-proline is an effective catalyst that can drive an asymmetric catalyst.
David W.C. MacMillan designed a simple organic molecule, MacMillan’s organocatalyst. The molecule contained a nitrogen atom that could form an iminium ion in an asymmetric catalyst.
This year’s Nobel Prize jewelry in Chemistry is the two molecules L-proline and MacMillan’s organocatalyst. Both formed in silver wire with the nitrogen atoms as silver balls and the oxygen atoms as 18K gold bolls.
The molecule of Life – DNA
DNA is the basis of all life on earth and is found in every living thing. It is the molecule of Life.
I design and form ‘simple’ DNA jewelry in silver wire. The double spiral structure is right-handed and contains ’minor’ och ’major groove’.
Capsiacin as silver jewelry

The burning feeling in chili comes from the molecule capsaicin.
Aji dulce amarillo is a Habanero type, relatively mild chili but very aromatic; 1-1.000 SHU on the Scoville scale.
Golden Cayenne is a golden yellow cayenne pepper that is medium strong; 30.000-50.000 SHU on the Scoville scale.
Naga Khorika is a super hot chill pepper; 800.000-1.000.000 SHU on the Scoville scale.
Exhibitions at ‘Sigtuna Mötesrunda’ and ‘Odensala konstrunda’
The weekend of 28 and 29 August between 11-16 I will be one of the exhibitors on the market Sigtuna Mötesrunda.
Together with about 15 other exhibitors, I will be at the popular and beautifully situated excursion place Herresta Lada in Odensala just outside Sigtuna. In addition to us exhibitors, there is also a nice organic café on the carefully renovated 19th-century farm.
The weekend on 4 and 5 September between 11-17, it’s the ‘Odensala konstrunda’. A 20-year tradition where various craftsmen in Odensala open their homes to show and sell their beautiful handicraft products. I myself will keep my silver jewelery at Herresta Lada.

I design and manufacture silver jewelry inspired by science. After many years in the research world, I switched to be a silver artist. Combining science with silversmithing is fantastic. Protein structures, small molecules and DNA helix, all have beautiful shapes and I form them in silver wire into unique silver jewelry. In collaboration with the Nobel Museum, I also design silver jewelry inspired by the Nobel Prize in physics, medicine and chemistry.
I make jewelry in the form of necklaces, jacket pins, earrings, bracelets and rings. All my jewelry is made by hand in Silver 925, sometimes combined with 18K gold.
